Calgary, Alta. (January 14, 2017) – The para-alpine speed series continues in Innerkrems (AUT) and so do the World Cup podium finishes. Today was the first super-G of the season and brought in two more podium finishes for the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team. Calgary’s Alana Ramsay finished in second-place and Sault Ste. Marie’s Mac Marcoux finished in third-place. 

“I’m happy with my performance today in the first super-G race of the year,” said Ramsay. “It was a great course set. I had an aggressive game place, which I was able to execute and that put me on the podium. We had great speed training heading into the season and I’m feeling confident moving forward.”

This is Marcoux’s third podium in Innerkrems (AUT) and Ramsay’s second-podium showcasing Canada’s talent in the speed disciplines. 

“Today was an overall great day for Jack and I,” said Marcoux. “We had two minor mistakes in the top section of the course. There snow was soft and slow form weather the last couple days and we really had to charge to the finish. It was good to get the first super-G under our belt and we’re looking forward to tomorrow’s super combined!”

Quebec’s Alexis Guimond continues to demonstrate strong skiing finishing today’s race in fifth-place, the fastest Canadian in the men’s standing category. Calgary’s Kurt Oatway finished in seventh-place in the sitting category. 

Erin Latimer, from Craigleith Ski Club, narrowly missed out on a podium finishing ending the race in fourth-place.

Unfortunately today’s scheduled two races didn’t go as planned with the second race cancelled due to high winds. Tomorrow the team will race a super combined to round out the series before heading to Kranjska Gora (SLO) for tech races.
