Georgia Simmerling made history in 2016, becoming the first ever Canadian to compete in three different Olympics in three different sports. A former national team alpine ski racer and Vancouver 2010 Olympian, Simmerling made the switch to ski cross in 2011 and was named to the senior national team in 2013. Simmerling made a name for herself on the World Cup tour claiming five podium finishes between 2012 and 2015. Simmerling also represented Canada Ski Cross at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, finishing 14th. After breaking her wrist at the 2015 Ski Cross World Championships, Simmerling decided to pursue a third Olympic appearance in Track Cycling Team Pursuit. Along with her teammates, Simmerling brought home a bronze medal from the 2016 Rio Olympics. Simmerling didn't skip a beat in the 2016-17 ski cross season, capturing two World Cup podium finishes.
