2025 FIS Para Alpine World Ski Championships Team a Mix of Veterans and Youth
Calgary, Alta. (February 4 2025) — A team of five athletes were announced today by Alpine Canada to represent Canada at the 2025 FIS Para Alpine World Ski Championships in Maribor, Slovenia, from February 5th through 11th.
Canada’s Para alpine team is in the middle of a strong season with Canadian athletes reaching the podium at all nine World Cup stops this season, including six wins, and a total of 22 podiums. The season’s highlight was a triple win day in Santa Caterina (ITA) in early January.
“This team has been a model of consistency with everyone standing on the podium at least twice so far this World Cup season,” said Matt Hallat, Director High Performance Para Alpine. “The group has a nice balance of experience, with Kurt and Alexis having been to multiple World Championships, and Michaela at her second, while Kalle and Sierra at their first, bringing a different energy to these Worlds. We are looking forward to some strong performances from this talented group.”
“Canada’s Para alpine team has a well-earned reputation as a top nation in ski racing and this group looks poised to build on that status,” said Therese Brisson, President and CEO of Alpine Canada. “I am confident that these amazing athletes will make Canadians proud with their skill, their effort and their results.”
The championships begin on Wednesday February 5th and wrap up with the women’s slalom on Sunday February 11th. For more information on the world championships, including the full schedule, please visit the FIS website at fis-ski.com.
