Alpine Canada Announces Departure of Women’s Alpine Ski Team Head Coach

Calgary AB, (March 11, 2023) – Alpine Canada announced today that Karin Harjo, Head Coach of Canada’s Women Alpine Ski Team, will be leaving the organization to pursue other career opportunities which she will announce separately.  Harjo will complete this World Cup season with the Canadian team, as well as set up the team’s preparation activities for next season.  Her last day with Alpine Canada will be Friday March 31st, 2023.

“Karin’s deep World Cup experience, technical skills, and outstanding leadership of people, team and culture helped transform our women’s program and inspire women in ski racing in Canada and beyond,” said Therese Brisson, Alpine Canada President & CEO.  “We thank her for her leadership and contributions to our women’s program which had the best results in over a decade.  We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

“I am extremely grateful to have been provided the opportunity to lead the Women’s Canadian Alpine Ski team over what has been a breakthrough season,” said Karin Harjo.  “It has been incredible to work with this very talented, passionate, and dedicated group of athletes, coaches and staff who support each other as a team.  A strong foundation is in place for this team to continue to thrive and I wish them every success in the future.”

Alpine Canada is committed to its vision for Canada to be a world-leading ski racing nation and its mission of increasing podium performances while inspiring the growth in participation and fans.  The recently completed 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships were the best in Canadian history with Canada winning two gold and two bronze medals.

Alpine Canada has initiated a selection process to identify the best candidate to lead the Women’s Canadian Alpine Ski Team and to build on the momentum through the 2026 quadrennial and beyond.
