What is the Women in Ski Racing Program?

ACA is committed to encouraging equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in its policies, programs, and activities. Explicitly built into our Safe Sport and EDI Policies, ACA is committed to providing equity-deserving groups an inclusive range of opportunities. We recognize the intersectional experiences for many of our participants and acknowledge that these present threats to wellbeing and access to sport. ACA is committed to enhancing opportunities for self-identifying women (hereafter: women) across the Canadian skiing community. ACA’s Women in Ski Racing Program is grounded in: 

  • Empowering girls and women to develop lifelong participation in sport, 
  • Creating a sense of belonging among women and girls in the ski community, 
  • Prioritizing mental and physical health, and well-being,  
  • Creating leadership opportunities for women exploring ski coaching pathways.

Objectives:

  • Encourage women and girls to value and stay in sport
  • Empower women to strive for their full potential in sport and society
  • Develop elite women alpine ski coaches, who will act as educators and mentors to other aspiring women coaches across Canada;
  • Create a supportive, professional coaching culture in Canada;
  • Create opportunities for athletes and coaches to develop their skills and confidence with the support of peers and mentors

  • Women’s Coaching Mentorship Opportunity

    Women mentorship is essential to increase the representation of women and girls in sport. Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) is committed to enhancing opportunities for women across the Canadian skiing community. The Women in Coaching Opportunity strives to do just that. This program is open to all self-identifying women coaches from across Canada’s skiing community who are interested in being mentored by national and provincial skiing coaches.

     

    The opportunity:

    Mentee coaches will be given the opportunity to attend the World Cup and/or NOR-AM field of play to observe, participate, and learn about high performance coaching pathways, de-brief and network with Ski Team coaches, participate in team building and workshops in a fun, social and inclusive environment. Accommodations, lift tickets, meals and professional development opportunities will be subsidized by ACA. 

     

    Goals:

    • Develop elite women alpine ski coaches, who will act as educators and mentors to other aspiring women coaches across Canada;
    • Create a supportive, professional female coaching culture in Canada;
    • Encourage women ski coaches across Canada to reach their full coaching potential; and
    • Create opportunities for women coaches to develop their skills and confidence with the support of peers and mentors
    • Identify and mentor potential future National Team Coaches

     

    The Ideal Applicant:

    • Affiliated with ACA or PTSO member club as a coach
    • Has an active coaching license 
    • Must be actively coaching or have recent athletic experience 
    • Excited and committed to pursuing a High-Performance coaching pathway 
    • Must be hard working, committed and passionate about ski racing
