The ACA Skills Combine
The Alpine Canada (ACA) Skills Combine is a new initiative to assess and develop fundamental skiing and fitness skills. Based on Canada's Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework, the program’s goal is to prepare athletes for success on the Podium Pathway and foster a lifelong enjoyment of the sport.
The skiing portion of the ACA Skills Combine is run annually at the ACA U16 Eastern and Western Championships. ACA Fitness Combine scores, submitted before the championships, are combined with the on-snow, ACA Skills Combine, results to determine the overall ACA Skills Combine podium at each ACA U16 Regional event.
Key Objectives
- Targeted Assessment: Focuses on the key physical fitness and technical skills crucial for elite-level ski racing.
- Data-Driven Insights: Provides practical assessments that quantify progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training strategies.
- Coach & Athlete Resource: An invaluable tool for coaches to refine training programs and for athletes to track their development.
Through ongoing education and partnerships with provincial organizations, ACA is dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment that supports national-level success.
