Alpine Canada Welcomes Andrew Baker as President & Chief Executive Officer

Calgary, AB (August 11, 2026) – Alpine Canada today announced the appointment of Andrew Baker as its new President & Chief Executive Officer following a thorough and extensive search led by its Board of Directors.

Baker joins Alpine Canada after an accomplished career with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), where he held progressively senior leadership roles while helping strengthen Canada's high-performance sport system. During his time with the COC, Baker helped lead some of the country's most significant sport initiatives, including the COC’s sport funding advocacy work, and efforts around the world's first Indigenous-led Olympic and Paralympic bid for the Vancouver 2030 Winter Games, done under the leadership of the potential Host First Nations, and bringing together governments, sport organizations and community leaders behind a shared vision.

Baker joins Alpine Canada at the beginning of an Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial, and at a defining moment for both the organization and Canadian sport. The Government of Canada's recent once-in-a-generation $1-billion federal investment in sport represents an opportunity to strengthen the country's winter sport system. While this commitment will help shape the future of Canadian ski racing, realizing Canada's full potential will also require sustained support from all stakeholders.

Baker will lead Alpine Canada through this pivotal period with a mandate to strengthen the organization's financial sustainability, grow participation and fan engagement, and build a world-leading ski racing system in the disciplines of alpine, ski cross and Para alpine, capable of consistently producing podium performances.

A personal goal—and one shared across our organization—is to eliminate team fees so athletes never have to pay to wear the maple leaf. Baker's appointment also reflects Alpine Canada's commitment to serving communities across the country.

Under Baker's leadership, Alpine Canada will build on this momentum by strengthening partnerships to create lasting opportunities for athletes from grassroots through to the Olympic and Paralympic podium. Together, Canada has an opportunity to build a ski racing system that inspires participation, develops champions and reinforces Canada's identity as a proud winter sport nation.

Baker’s start date with Alpine Canada is Monday September 14, 2026.
