Calgary, AB (January 9, 2020) – After conquering the Cross Alps Tour at the end of 2019 the Canadian Ski Cross Team is back on home soil and ready to compete in the Ski Cross NorAm Cup and Canadian National Championships this weekend at Canyon Ski Resort in Red Deer, Alberta. The team, many of whom are coming off of podium wins on the Cross Alps tour, are well rested after a couple weeks off. The weekend of racing will serve as a great tune up before the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup on Jan. 18 at Nakiska Ski Area.

Brady Leman (Calgary, AB), who won the National Championships in 2019 is excited to get back on snow in front of friends and family.

“It’s great to be racing close to home in Alberta. Canyon has a cool small-town nostalgic vibe. The track is fun, and it will be great racing. Canadian Champs is always an important race for us, and this year leading into our home World Cup at Nakiska next week, it will up the intensity even more” said Leman.

On the women’s side of things Marielle Thompson (Whistler, BC), who came second last year at Sunshine Village hopes to take over first place.

Competing alongside Leman and Thomson in Red Deer will be Abby McEwen, Antoinette Tansley, Brittany Phelan, Carson Cook, Chris Del Bosco, Courtney Hoffos, Gavin Rowell, Hannah Schmidt, India Sherret, Jared Schmidt, Kevin Drury, Kris Mahler, Ned Ireland, Reece Howden, Zach Belczyk and Zoe Chore.

The entire Canadian Ski Cross Team looks to start 2020 the way they ended 2019, by winning.
