With the World Championships in our rearview mirror, the Canadian Ski Teams are back in the World Cup start gates across Europe, and ready to compete.

The Canadian Ski Cross Team, coming off a double podium in Reiteralm, AUT for both Reece Howden and Courtney Hoffos have moved to Bakuriani, GEO. Courtney and Reece will lead the team into this new venue for a traditional ski cross race on Saturday, followed by the first-ever ski cross mixed team World Cup event on Sunday.

The team event, run in a knock-out format, functions as a two-competitor-per-team relay, the

gate drops for the second athlete based on the time difference between the first two athletes. The first team to have both competitors across the finish line in the big final is the winner.

Reece and Courtney will be joined in Bakuriani by Brady Leman, Carson Cook, Chris Del Bosco, Hannah Schmidt, Jared Schmidt, Kris Mahler, Marielle Thompson, Tiana Gairns, and Zoe Chore.

Marie-Michèle Gagnon is ready to send it in the downhill and super-G in Val di Fassa, ITA. Mitch has been strong in downhill training and is coming off several strong finishes in the super G including a podium finish in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, GER in January. She will kick out of the start gate in the downhill on Friday and Saturday followed by the super G on Sunday.

The men’s tech team moved on from Italy to Bansko, BUL. Trevor Philp and Erik Read will be charging in Saturday and Sunday’s giant slalom. Trevor finished in 17th on this course in 2019 while Erik finished in 22nd. Both aim to regain the early season momentum as they head into the last push of the season.

The Canadian Ski Teams look to make a strong push in this last block of the World Cup season by stepping onto the podium.
