Getting to the end of the road

Getting to the end of the road

With some time to recharge behind them after the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, the women’s tech group is ready to get back into the start gate at the 2021Jasná Alpine Ski World Cup in Jasna, SVK. Cassidy Gray and Valérie Grenier are ready to kick out of the giant slalom start gates on Saturday. On Sunday Erin Mielzynski and Laurence St-Germain will lead an eager contingent of Canadian slalom specialists. Erin and Lau will be joined by Ali Nullmeyer, Roni Remme, and Amelia Smart.

Due to COVID-19 the organizing committee has gotten creative and found new ways to involve fans, using modern technology and social media. The audience will be welcomed in Studio Jasná, which will feature different programming all week bringing the largest sporting event in Slovakia to the world. Check the schedule of virtual events here.

The men’s speed team will be racing in Saalbach Hinterglemm, AUT on the legendary Zwölferkogel, which will also host the races of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2025. Saalbach Hinterglemm hosted its first World Cup in 1972 when Austrian native Annemarie Moser-Pröll, at just 19 years old stood on the top step. The men’s tour first came to the region three years later for a giant slalom. This year Jack Crawford and Brodie Seger, both coming off 4thplace finishes at the World Ski Championship last month look to lead the team into the history books themselves.

With two downhill races followed by a super-G, it will be a busy weekend for the Wolf Pack. Jack and Brodie will be joined by Jeff Read, Kyle Alexander, and Broderick Thompson at the historic venue.

The Canadian Ski Teams are getting down to the last couple of races in this unprecedented season and we will be cheering them on until the very end.
