Calgary, AB. (March 25, 2025) — The FIS Para Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in Veysonnaz (SUI) wrapped up today with slalom (SL) racing and Michaela Gosselin (Collingwood, ON) extended Canada’s podium streak to five races with a third-place finish today. Over the five days of racing at these finals Canadians delivered nine podiums.  

Racing in women’s standing, Gosselin produced the second fastest second run to claim her spot on the podium. This is Gosselin’s seventh podium this season, including two wins.

“It feels great to end the season on the podium, especially in my favorite discipline, slalom,” said Gosselin.  “The past week at the World Cup Finals has been a little tough, but I finally put two solid runs together today. I’m really happy with how today went and overall how my season turned out!”

“Very excited and very pleased with how this season has gone, especially with how things have wrapped up here” said Para Alpine Head Coach Will Marshall. “It’s been fun to have the younger athletes join us this week, for them to get a taste of World Cup racing, and for them to see our older athletes standing on the podium. Behind every athlete, and every podium, there are a lot of moving pieces and we’ve got a tremendous group of people supporting our athletes, from the coaching staff, to the guys in the ski room to the medial team. It’s the result of everyone’s hard work that makes this team very special and successful.”

Also in women standing, Florence Carrier had a World Cup career best fourth place, and Tess Beasant didn’t finish her first run. 

After three podiums, including a win early in the competition, Kalle Ericsson (Kimberley, BC), and guide Sierra Smith (Ottawa, ON), in men vision impaired, didn’t finish their first run today.

And in men’s sitting, Brian Rowland (Merrickville, ON) was 11th, while Kurt Oatway (Calgary, AB), and Samuel Peters didn’t finish their first run. 

“After a successful season it's our job to remain curious to see what we can do to be even stronger heading into next season and the 2026 Cortina Paralympic Winter Games,” added Marshall. “Huge thank you to the athletes for their hard work and dedication and to the staff for everything they do for this team. It’s fun to work with this group and there exciting times ahead.”
