October 16, 2019, Calgary (AB) - With the start of the alpine World Cup season just days away, Alpine Canada is inviting ski fans to show their support and celebrate 100 years of ski racing by joining the Medallists’ Circle.
Entering its second season, the fundraising initiative invites Canadian Alpine, Para-Alpine and Ski Cross fans from around the globe to make a fixed pledge for each World Cup podium achieved by our athletes over the course of the upcoming race season. At the end of the winter, all World Cup podium results will be added up to determine the donor’s total gift amount.
For example, if a donor pledges a gift of $10 per World Cup podium and the combined total of all alpine, para-alpine, and ski cross World Cup podiums for the 2019-2020 season is 30, then the total gift would be $300 donation for the entire season. For the same number of podium results, a pledge of $5 per podium would be equivalent to a total donation of $150.
As a point of reference, in 2018-2019 Canadian ski racers stepped on the World Cup podium on 32 occasions. In 2017-2018, our athletes achieved 35 World Cup Podiums plus 13 Paralympic and Olympic medals.
Donors can choose the podium pledge amount of their choice. Payments will be due upon the close of the World Cup season, after World Cup finals.
All funds raised through this initiative will support the journeys of our 54 athletes on the world stage as well as boost ski racing excellence across Canada.
Fans joining the Medallists’ Circle before December 31, 2019 will receive a complimentary ski team sticker.
Join the Medallists’ Circle today and make your pledge!
