Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup Snow Control Gets Green Light

Calgary, Alta. (Nov. 13, 2017) - It’s winter in Western Canada! The Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup reached a positive snow control with FIS confirming the men’s downhill and super-G races on November 25 and 26, 2017. “This positive snow control is great news. The cooperation of our organizing committee, our Sled Dog volunteers, the Net Crew, the entire team at the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Mother Nature means we will be race ready to host the world’s fastest alpine ski racers.” declares Brian Lynam, Race Chairman, Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

These races mark the opening of the speed events on the World Cup tour. Canada has had 12 podiums on the Lake Louise track, with Canadian Cowboy Erik Guay claiming the first one in 2003 with a second-place finish in the downhill.

Mark your calendars and bring your cowbells to come out and cheer on Canada’s fastest athletes as they vie for podium finishes and kick off the start of the 2017-18 season!

About the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup

The world’s fastest skiers descend on Alberta at the end of November each year to compete at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill and super-G races held during the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Held in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains at Lake Louise Ski Resort, Canada’s highest-profile alpine ski race features the first men’s and ladies’ speed events of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup season. First hosted in 1980, the Lake Louise World Cup event is the first outside Europe to be named to the prestigious Club 5, an organization that brings together the most famous and historic World Cup alpine race organizing committees. The event has become synonymous with the start of the ski season each winter. It also represents the only opportunity male and female Canadian alpine skiers have to win a World Cup on home snow.
