Eriksson and Smith Take Super-G Bronze for Second Medal at Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games

Calgary, Alberta (March 9, 2026)— It’s another day and another medal for Kalle Eriksson (Kimberley, BC), and guide Sierra Smith (Ottawa, ON) at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. After a silver medal in the opening downhill the duo raced to the bronze medal today in the super-G in men vision impaired.

“Two medals is kind of unreal. I didn’t think we’d be able to accomplish that, especially in the speed races,” said Eriksson. “I’m really happy with how we’re performing. It might not be the cleanest skiing, but we are consistently going out there and going for it and putting it all on the line.”

“We approached today with a really strong game plan,” added Smith. “I think what took us over the top was going in with a fighting attitude. Maybe we didn’t ski the best, but the attitude is what brought us to the podium today.”

Canada’s top woman today was Michaela Gosselin (Collingwood, ON), competing in women’s standing, who raced to ninth place for her second top 10 finish in two races at these Games.

The other Canadian men in action today, Alexis Guimond (Gatineau, QC), men standing, Kurt Oatway (Calgary, AB) and Brian Rowland (Merrickville, ON), men sitting, struggled with the soft conditions and didn’t finish their runs.

Upcoming races at these Paralympics:
March 10: Alpine Combined
March 12: Women’s Giant Slalom
March 13: Men’s Giant Slalom
March 14: Women’s Slalom
March 15: Men’s Slalom
