Calgary, Alta. (January 11, 2017) – It’s a speed and tech weekend for the alpine team and ski cross has a double-header in Sweden! The men’s alpine team will take on the legendary Lauberhorn track in Wengen, SUI. Friday the men will race an alpine combined, Saturday will hold the downhill and the men’s tech team takeover on Sunday for a slalom race. There have been strong men’s results this season with Broderick Thompson claiming personal-best results in downhill and alpine combined, and Manuel Osborne-Paradis recently hitting the top-ten in Bormio, ITA in December. Erik Read is hoping to build his top-30 finishes this season to shoot for the Olympic nomination criteria.
The ladies’ will race a downhill Saturday and a super-G on Sunday in Bad Kleinkirchheim, AUT. The ladies’ speed team is comprised of young talent. Roni Remme has shown great promise this season in her inaugural season on the World Cup circuit and will be looking for some good results in speed. Valérie Grenier leads the team in speed experience and will be looking for some top-results.

Canada Ski Cross wrapped up the Cross Alps Tour with six Canadian podiums, including back-to-back podiums for Georgia Simmerling. There were also two career-first podiums achieved by Brittany Phelan and Kevin Drury and multiple career-best finishes. The team is racing back-to-back this weekend with two races in Idre Fjall, SWE. With a deep roster of athletes heading into the qualification race on Friday, there will be exciting action to take in Saturday and Sunday.
