RACE PREVIEW: MARCH 9-11

Para-alpine

Calgary, Alta. (March 8, 2018) – The para-alpine team is in PyeongChang, South Korea, competing in the first alpine events of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games. The team kicks things off with the downhill event on Friday, March 9, and super-G on Saturday, March 10. Reigning Paralympic super-G bronze medallist Mac Marcoux is looking to again make his mark in the speed events, while teammates Kurt Oatway, Alana Ramsay and Alexis Guimond are also well-positioned to excel.

Alpine

The alpine team is in their homestretch of the season with the final races of the regular World Cup season underway this weekend.

The ladies are racing a giant slalom and slalom in Ofterschwang, GER this weekend. Erin Mielzynski is coming off an 11th-place finish at the Olympics, showing some exciting skiing. Laurence St-Germain had her Olympic debut after putting down some solid top-20 results on the World Cup circuit. She finished in 15th-place in the Olympic slalom, showing great consistency.

On the men’s side, the team will be racing a downhill and a super-G in Kvitfjell, NOR where Canada has seen success in the past, including Erik Guay’s third-place finish last year, Manuel Osborne-Paradis stepping on the podium in 2015 and 2009 and Dustin Cook with a third-place in 2015. Cook is coming off a ninth-place finish in the super-G at the Olympics. Ben Thomsen and Broderick Thompson will also race this weekend.
