Calgary, Alta. (November 9, 2017) – Levi, FIN welcomes the White Circus this weekend for a ladies’ slalom race on Saturday and a men’s slalom race on Sunday.
Erin Mielzynski (Collingwood, Ont.), slalom specialist, will push out of the start gate for the first time this season.
“Levi is such a great place to start the season,” said Mielzynski. “The atmosphere is great and the winner gets a reindeer! I’ve been working hard to make some positive changes to my skiing and I’m proud to see these changes taking shape. Leading into the race, I am staying calm, trusting my skiing and finding my race mode. I’m excited to bring my best skiing forward and enjoying the beginning of the season!”
Veteran Marie-Michèle Gagnon (Lac-Etchemin, Que.), looks for redemption this weekend after a bauble during the second run in Sölden, AUT took her out of the running for a top-20 finish.
Young gun Laurence St-Germain (St-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Que.) will have her turn on the track this weekend as well. St-Germain’s current personal-best World Cup slalom finish is 27th-place. She’ll be pushing for points this weekend.

The men’s tech team is up again this weekend after missing out on the Sölden, AUT season-opener due to high winds. Erik Read (Calgary, Alta.) leads the men’s team into the weekend with a personal-best World Cup slalom result of seventh-place last season.
“With the recent cancellation of Sölden, there’s extra anticipation for the World Cup circuit to kick off this weekend in Levi for the men,” said Read. “It’s been a long prep period, and the Canadian team is ready to get racing!”
Trevor Philp (Calgary, Alta.) and Phil Brown (Toronto, Ont.) will also have their first start of the season this weekend.
