Calgary, Alta. (November 30, 2017) – Alpine Canada gears up for its second-annual U16 Rising Stars camp, which bolsters Canada’s next generation of alpine superstars.
Panorama Mountain Resort is set to host Canada’s top U16 athletes once again this December. 34 athletes from across the nation will descend on Panorama from the 2nd – 10th undertaking both speed and technical training in preparation for the upcoming season.
Focused on ensuring Canada’s young athletes are prepared for not only the upcoming season but their future success in ski racing, Alpine Canada’s Dusan Grasic AND Jennifer Stielow will lead the camp with seven of Canada’s coaches involved in the ‘Top 10 Coach’ program.
“I am excited once again to see athletes and coaches from across the nation come together for this week in Panorama,” said Dusan Grasic, Alpine Canada Director of Domestic Sport. “It builds relationships, learning opportunities and fosters life-long friendships for those involved. This year we are also integrating a dryland testing component for the athletes, emphasising that it is not only on hill training and skills that are important but re-assuring athletes and coaches the importance of dryland training and testing.”
The Rising Stars camp is a building block for the next generation of athletes providing an unprecedented opportunity for them to grow their skills early season and prepare themselves for the opportunity to compete for their province at the 2018 U16 Sport Chek National Championships or Canada at the 2018 FIS CHI Whistler Cup.
Alpine Canada wishes to thank the partners of the Rising Stars camp including, the Nik Zorcic (NZ) Foundation, Panorama Mountain Resort and World Cup Supply.
Congratulations to all athletes selected to attend the 2017 U16 Rising Stars camp!
