Calgary, AB (December 21, 2019) – After a successful stop in Lake Louise that saw Canadian Alpine Ski Team members land on the podium six times the NorAm Circuit continued last week at Nakiska Ski Area. Jeff Read led the way with three gold medals and a bronze, and Amelia Smart picked up a gold and silver in the slalom races. With a huge field of competitors from all over the world, athletes and volunteers battled high winds, lots of snow and a deep love of ski racing throughout the week.
Read was happy with his decision to stay in Canada and race in Nakiska, “I decided with Johnny (Kucera) to stay for the Nakiska block instead of heading to Italy for the World Cup races which was a very smart call. I dropped my world ranking in downhill by 30 which will help my start position in World Cup races. Having the lower bib will allow a much higher chance of being competitive in the top 30.”
