About
James ‘Jack’ Crawford grew up skiing in Georgian Peaks, ON, but moving to Whistler, B.C. to finish off his youth skiing career set him up to be one of the world’s best. After debuting with the Canadian World Cup team in 2016, Crawford joined the sport’s stars in 2021-22, finishing top-10 six times while earning a super-G silver medal in Kvitfjell, NOR.
But in recent seasons, he’s taken a massive step, establishing himself as one of the best Canadian ski racers in the sport’s history.
At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, he finished fourth in the downhill before winning bronze in the men’s alpine combined, becoming the first Canadian to win an alpine medal since Jan Hudec in 2014. Yet, that win was only a boost to his career, which has exponentially improved since then.
In 2024-25, Crawford stunned the alpine world with a win on the infamous Kitzbuhel downhill, where he led a double-medal day for Canada with teammate Cameron Alexander finishing third. In addition to the Hannenkahm triumph that season, he also claimed silver in the Kvitfjell super-G.
In total, he has six World Cup podium finishes, finishing second in Aspen and Bormio downhills, as well as the Kvitfjell super-G, which he has finished as runner-up twice. His only third-place finish came in 2022 in the downhill in Beaver Creek.
While James is his official name, his younger sister could once only pronounce “Jack,” and that’s the name he now goes by.
Also in 2023-24, the 1997-born Toronto, ON, native joined the highly regarded Red Bull Ski Team and quickly became one of the sport's most recognizable athletes. Still, he hopes to continue his success, aiming for more World Cup podiums and an overall title in the downhill and super-G.
