ACA-CSC is pleased to announce the start of the Fall webinar series. Webinars will once again provide risk management and educational credits for coaches in attendance. The annual webinar series will begin in October and is open for anyone to attend.

Monday October 4, 2021: Physical Fitness

This webinar will present the basic fitness concepts, increase coach awareness when it comes to the role of physical fitness in ski racing and inclusion of these concepts in their own club programming. We will have a panel discussion during this webinar with:

Wednesday October 13, 2021: Safe Sport

In this webinar, Alexia Tam, Safe Sport Manager for Alpine Canada, will provide an overview of safe sport, the prevalence of maltreatment in sport and critical relationships. She will also present the next steps in the safe sport journey from prevention of harm to optimizing experiences, promoting positive athlete development, and strategies to increase motivation while promoting learning. Finally, Alexia will end the webinar by reviewing our collective role in advancing and sustaining safe sport.

Wednesday October 20, 2021: Coaching the Female Athlete

In this webinar, Dr. Patricia Doyle-Baker and panelist will review coaching the female athlete. Including the social and psycho-social aspects of coaching to programming training, self-esteem and body image, and development of mental performance skills. They will also touch on some pitfalls that both coaches and female athletes may easily overlook, including injury prevention, energy intake and healthy eating habits.

Wednesday October 27, 2021: The Foot, Ankle and Boot Fitting

In this webinar, Chris Powers, CAST Men's Speed Assistant Coach, will review boot fitting best practices and avoid the common pitfalls he sees with boot fitting at the junior development level. Then, Declan Norris, CAST Men's IST Lead & Physiotherapist, will review some foot fundamentals related to the functional mechanics of the foot, ankle, and lower leg muscles for ski racing. He will also provide insight into what he has included in the Men's CAST program to improve their performance.
