Delivering Innovative Platform to Support Coaches, Athletes and Parents
Calgary, AB. (December 18, 2024) — Alpine Canada is excited to launch its Strive program to provide ski racers with a holistic approach to their development by focusing on a range of skills including life, athletic, mental, skiing and complementary abilities. The program is delivered through a digital platform, on the Strive app, that tracks a skier’s progress on and off the snow through an eight-level program, recognizing individual progress through tasks and generating personalized reports at each level. The app is free for Alpine Canada certified coaches, member clubs, parents and athletes.
"The Strive program is a new, innovative value add that Alpine Canada is bringing to the ski community to grow the sport, to support coaches and parents, and to enhance the quality of the programming delivered to young ski racers,” said Jeff Thompson, Senior Vice President Domestic Sport & Events, Alpine Canada. “The program takes a holistic approach to developing young ski racers, not just focused on skiing skills but all skills necessary to be successful as an athlete and a young person. Attributes such as life skills, physical skills, and of course skiing skills are all integrated into the program.”
The Strive program provides an evidence-based, intuitive tool for coaches to use in the field, while using the athlete Long-Term Development Model. The program will also serve to motivate young athletes to reach their maximum potential on and off the snow.
“Alpine Canada is very pleased to introduce the Strive program and its priority of developing the person as a whole and not just the athlete,” said Therese Brisson, President and CEO, Alpine Canada. “Strive will be a valuable tool for coaches, parents and for young athletes on their athletic journey. Our sports system is being challenged by a lack of funding from both the public and private sectors and innovative athlete development programs like these are required for Canada to remain competitive on the world stage. I am excited to see the impact that Strive will have on the Canadian ski racing community in the years to come.”
The Strive program is currently being used and the app is available for download from the App Store and Google Play. To learn more about the Strive program click here.
