Calgary, AB (January 8, 2020) – It was a banner day for the Canadian Para-Alpine Team in Veysonnaz, Switzerland as Mollie Jepsen (West Vancouver, BC), Kurt Oatway (Calgary, AB) and Mac Marcoux (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) guided by Tristan Rodgers (Ottawa, ON), all won gold in the inaugural World Cup races of the season. The team has put focus into speed training throughout the pre-season training and the results in the Super-G are a culmination of that hard work.  

Jepsen was excited for a win in the Women’s Standing Category after being away from competition all last season, “It was a sweet day, I’m stoked to be back racing. Happy to put down some stuff on the speed track and looking forward to tomorrow.” 

For Mac Marcoux, todays’ win in the Men’s Visually Impaired Category came after almost an entire year recovering from injury, and validated the decisions made during his return to snow program. “I’m so stoked on how today went. We’ve had a long return to snow. It’s super exciting to be back in a race environment and to know that the amount of time we took to come back was the right decision. We couldn’t be more stoked to be back on the top step” he said.

For team veteran Kurt Oatway the victory was a sweet way to start the season. “Today was good, it was a very interesting course. A lot of airs, leaving the ground quite often. All in all, it was a good day” he said.
