Grenier Wins Giant Slalom at World Cup Finals

Calgary, AB. (March 25, 2026)—Canada’s Valérie Grenier (St. Isidore, ON) wrapped up the 2026 FIS Ski World Cup season in style with a win in today’s women’s giant slalom (GS) in Lillehammer (NOR). This is Grenier’s second podium of the season to go along with a third-place finish at her home race, the PwC Tremblant World Cup, in December.

Grenier produced two very strong runs today, winning the first run to set herself up as the last skier in the decisive second run. Grenier then delivered the third best second run to win the race, after combining the two runs, by nearly half a second for the third World Cup win of her career.

“This feels really good,” said a pleased Grenier. “The first run felt good the whole way down and I was so happy when I crossed the finish and saw first place. I was quite nervous before the second run. It’s Nico’s (Carpentieri) last day as our ski tech and I badly wanted to get the win for him. The second run wasn’t too turny and that suits me. We had a good plan and it all came together.”

“I’m so happy and also relived. It’s been a good season but a long one with the Olympic Games. I’m hungry for more but also need a rest.”

Britt Richardson (Canmore, AB) also qualified for World Cup Finals by being 15th in the season World Cup GS standings. Richardson placed 20th today.
