National Team Athletes Deliver at Panorama Nor-Am Cup

Calgary, AB. (December 16, 2024) — It was a strong few days for Canada’s national team skiers at the Nor-Am Cup stop in Panorama, BC, December 10 through 15. On the first of two days of super-G racing Brodie Seger (North Vancouver, BC) topped the podium in the men’s race, with teammate Kiki Alexander (Cochrane, AB) finishing second in the women’s race.

“It definitely felt good to get a win on the first day,” said Seger. “Last season was a struggle to find race pace. Now I feel like I’m back and I want to start racking up some good results.”

A couple of days later in the men’s giant slalom, Liam Wallace (Banff, AB) and Asher Jordan (North Vancouver, BC) placed first and second on day 1 and then took second and third in the weekend’s other GS. CAST D athletes cracking the top 10 were Pierick Charest (Blainville, QC) with a 10th and 5th, Jesse Kertesz-Knight (Jasper, AB) ninth and 10th and Kyle Blandford (Clarksburg, ON) with a sixth place finish.

“I am proud,” said Liam Wallace, referring to his recovery from a season ending crash in February. “Considering everything over the past 10 months, to now already having done a few races is crazy. Getting results right away is a bonus. I am mostly excited about the way I feel on my skis after everything last year.”

Amelia Smart (Invermere, BC) had a strong weekend winning both slalom races, with fellow national team member Kiki Alexander (Cochrane, AB) finishing ninth one day and Justine Lamontagne (St-Ferréol-les-Neiges, QC) taking 10th the next day to go along with a third place finish in the GS. Eleri Smart, sister to Amelia, finished sixth and seventh in the two slalom races over the weekend.

“It has been really nice racing at home and I love racing in Panorama,” said Smart. “I’m really happy with  how I executed my plan and looking forward to taking some momentum to the next races.”

In the men’s slalom Jesse Kertesz-Knight took the win on the second day after finishing eight the first day. Raphael Lessard took a 10th and a 5th to go along with a win and a second place finish earlier in the week in the SG. Pierick Charest placed sixth in the second day of slalom racing.
