Calgary, AB (January 30, 2020) – After another winning weekend in Sweden, the Canadian Ski Cross Team was ready to head to Megève, FRA. Megève is a small ski resort in southeastern France that is the quintessential “French Alps” town and is hosting the Ski Cross World Cup for the first time since 2018. The track, which is marked by big air and serious turns ending with  an exciting jump, is ready for a Canadian team who has been going harder and faster every week.

Last weekend in Idre Fjäll, SWE the team had another four podium finishes. Britt Phelan (Mont Tremblant, QC) finished in 3rd in the first race and Marielle Thompson (Whistler, BC) stood on the same step of the women’s podium after the second day of racing. On the men’s side of things Brady Leman (Calgary, AB) finished in 2ndon the first day of racing and after a fall the previous day, Kevin Drury (Toronto, ON) rebounded to finish in 2ndthe next day.

Along with Phelan, Thompson, Leman and Drury will be Abby McEwen (Edmonton, AB),

Chris Del Bosco (Montreal, QC), Kris Mahler (Canmore, AB), Zach Belczyk (Banff, AB) and Ned Ireland (Lake Country, BC). The team aims to stand on the podium in Megève, a place Canada hasn’t been since Leman came in 2nd in 2015.

The team is eager for the next leg of the World Cup tour but will have a bit of a break as the Feldberg, GER stop has been cancelled due to lack of snow. The next race will be in Sunny Valley, RUS February 23.
