Reference: Cancellation – PwC Tremblant World Cup – Dec 7 & 8, 2024
To all our Sport & Funding Partners, Sponsors, Donors, Vendors, Suppliers, Alumni & Ski Community,
I know the news regarding the cancellation of the PwC Tremblant World Cup due to the insufficient cold weather conditions for snowmaking was disappointing for all stakeholders in the event. I want to thank the local organizing committee as well as the Tremblant staff and volunteers who were extraordinarily well-prepared and did everything they could to try to be ready in time for the races on December 7-8, 2024. Despite their hard work, the course’s snow condition was not ready in time for World Cup racing.
I know this is especially disappointing for the fans who were excited to see the best women ski racers in the world, and the athletes who loved racing here, especially our Canadian athletes who were so looking forward to racing on home snow.
The PwC Tremblant World Cup is an important part of our work to Produce Race Events that Excite Canadians and grow the sport and fans by creating unforgettable moments that inspire and unite Canadians. It is also an important means for leaving a legacy for the region, the ski community, as well a driving revenue and funding that can be re-invested back into sport programs and Canada’s National Ski Teams.
Unfortunately, the cancellation of the PwC World Cup will have a significant negative impact of more than $1MM on our operations due to the lost of international broadcast & advertising revenues, loss of domestic partnerships and event activation sponsorship revenue, loss of fundraising event revenue around the event, and non-refundable costs with the cancellation. We have been working with all stakeholders to try to mitigate that impact and avoid disruption to sport and national ski team programming with only 16 months leading into the Milan/Cortina Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games.
I have been heartened by the response of our stakeholders and I want to thank our partners, sponsors and donors for their continued support during this challenging time. The situation makes us event more motivated to host an even better PwC Tremblant World Cup next December 6-7, 2025 and I look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
Warm regards,
Therese Brisson
