Calgary, Alta. (February 2, 2025) — Alpine Canada announced today the twelve athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 FIS World Ski Championships in Saalbach, Austria from February 4th through 16th.
In a strong season for Canadian ski racers, highlighted by James Crawford’s win in the Kitzbühel downhill last weekend, and coming off Canada’s most successful world championships in Canadian ski racing history at the 2023 World Championships in Courchevel-Méribel, France, this year’s team is poised for more success.
“Our Canadian women have really supported each other, and pushed one another, with some showing great resilience in coming back from injuries,” said Laurent Praz, Head Coach of Canada’s Women Alpine Ski Team. “There have been some very positive results from Britt, Laurence and Val, and really from all the athletes this season. As a staff, we are very proud that their hard work and determination has their health, confidence and results improve every day.”
“The team has delivered consistent results and shown steady improvement this season with guys in the mix at every race,” said John Kucera, Head Coach of Canada’s Men’s Alpine Ski Team. “There have been some big moments, like Jack and Cam’s Kitzbühel podiums, and there have been equally important results like Brodie being in the points in seven of his eight races this season. We are excited to get to World Championships to defend our title and I know this staff and these athletes will continue to push each other to deliver their best at Worlds and beyond.”
“This past weekend produced another unforgettable ski racing moment for Canadians with Jack and Cam on the podium in Kitzbühel,” said Therese Brisson, President and CEO of Alpine Canada. “Coming off the team’s best ever World Championship performance in Courchevel-Méribel, I am looking forward to these amazing Canadian athletes again showing their best at these world championships.”
The championships begin with the opening ceremony on Tuesday February 4th and wraps up with the men’s slalom on Sunday February 16th. For more information on the world championships, including the full schedule, please visit the FIS website at fis-ski.com.
