About
Kalle Eriksson and his guide, Sierra Smith, have taken the Para alpine world by storm in their early careers, with the 21-year-old visually impaired skier picking up two silver medals at his debut World Championships in the slalom and giant slalom in Maribor, SLO.
The World Championship success capped off a stellar sophomore World Cup season for Eriksson and Smith, as they skied to two World Cup victories in the giant slalom, despite Eriksson making his way back from offseason knee surgery, while nursing a shoulder injury.
A native of Kimberley, B.C, Eriksson picked up his first World Cup victory in a slalom in Cortina d’Ampezzo, ITA, in January 2024, after securing his first World Cup podium finish weeks prior with a giant slalom third-place result in Veysonnaz, SUI.
Eriksson first skied with Smith at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island, and the two have continued to ski since winning a gold medal in their competitive debut in the giant slalom.
With Smith, a former national team skier herself, and his father, Lasse Eriksson, Kalle had plenty of support to get into the sport and finds himself among the world’s best heading into his first Paralympic season.
